CA 70 – Via delle Saline [Central Puglia]

From Manfredonia to Monopoli

Polignano a Mare

The start of this section is at the junction of SP60 di Beccarini and SP59, in the locality of Amendola (province of Foggia): a strategic point that allows both those arriving via the official route (from Apricena) and those coming from the coastal variant (from Manfredonia) to easily rejoin. From here continue along the Barretta drove road and quiet rural provincial roads to Trinitapoli, then return to the coast via cycle paths to the Saline di Savoia.

Continue on secondary roads to Barletta (near the Ofanto river you must cover about 1 km on the main road — the only stretch without alternatives). From Barletta to Trani follow service roads, while towards Bisceglie the route diverts inland due to works on the Ponte Lama. Towards Molfetta proceed on secondary roads, except for a critical point entering the town along Strada Vicinale Padula and the old SS16 Adriatica.

From here the route is fairly comfortable, thanks to urban cycle paths, coastal secondary roads and service roads, passing through Giovinazzo, Bari, Mola di Bari, Polignano a Mare, and finally arriving at Monopoli, the last stop on this section of the route.

⚠️ Critical sections: Margherita di Savoia – Barletta (crossing the Ofanto river on a provincial road), Bisceglie – Molfetta (entering Molfetta on a provincial road), Bari – Torre a Mare (leaving Bari on a coastal provincial road).

Please note: in some sections the route deviates from the Bicitalia BI6 track, following variants considered safer with fewer stretches on main roads.
